Summer Businesss Accountability
in Personal Thoughts & Opinions by Nicole on 04 Jun
Happy Thursday. It’s summer here already in Florida. The kids are out of school, and I’m enjoying the sunshine (and afternoon storms, even).
Well, yesterday we got the news that we’re a one-income family again – mine. My husband volunteered to be laid off from the teaching job that he loved, so that someone else in his department could keep their job. It’s wonderful to have that flexibility, but change is also scary.
Ironically, I wrote about transitions and change at Sparkplugging the other day. If you’re going through changes in business or in life, it may be helpful information for you.
Change is Scary, but It is Also Guaranteed.
Many in business view summer as a time to kick back and relax, which is totally fine.
However, those of us that give a huge push for the next three months will see big rewards in the fall when business picks up again.
Which one are you? Yes, summer is for fun, but… it’s also a time to get your ducks in a row and give your business a boost, while things are slow.
I’m not saying you need to bust your butt, BUT – planning your work strategically this summer can really give you results.
For instance, have you seen my Rock Star Blog Tour yet? My friends were worried that people would copy my idea. I doubt it. You know why? Scheduling out three months of blog posts — not an easy task. Orchestrating the logins and topics for each blog? Not an easy task. It’s work. And, it’s summer. Anytime you’re willing to put in the extra effort in your business you usually stand out.
In fact, I’m now going from June through August on my tour and ending at Jimmy D. Brown’s blog which I’m totally psyched about.
If you haven’t seen the lineup for this summer, take a peek.

What are you doing this summer to boost your business to the next level? In fact, I’ll post this to my blog.
If you want accountability to reach your goals, post your summer business plans below (of course, consider confidentiality as this is a public blog).
Have a wonderful weekend.
Warmly,

Hi Nicole,
I plan on doing just what you suggest – using the summer to begin and get a good start on a new blog I’m working on for homeschooling/work at home parents. Like you I live in Florida, kids are out of school, and I have 3 months of no homeschooling to devote to creating/marketing this new blog. I would love to have accountability to accomplish my goals.

Like Tammy, I too want to devote some quality time to a new blog I started about a month ago. I have been adding content over the last month but haven’t promoted it much. So my plan is to start putting it out there to draw lots of traffic.

It’s very admirable of your husband to give up his job for another person. Not many people would be that selfless. So kudos to him and to you for convincing me to work more behind the scenes of my business this summer.

Hi Nicole,
I am ramping up my online business this summer as well. I am taking Jimmy’s Affiliatenaire and Membernaire courses and I am getting my blogs up and running and I have my membership niche chosen. So I am in the process of implementing my lessons as I go along.
I plan is to have my membership site online by July and making about $2,000.00 a month from my affiliate blog by August.
I work a full time JOB, all year round, but summertime is my motivation to launch big time, because I want to be a WAHG (work at home granny).

Hey Nicole,
Good stuff!! I totally agree and I look at it from this perspective. It’s called the “Slight Edge” philosophy. It’s the simple disciplines we do each day that don’t seem to make any difference in the act of doing them (doing our business even though we don’t feel like it) but compounded over time makes all the difference and will take you to the top. Then, it’s the simple errors in judgment that seem to make no difference in the act of doing them(not feel like doing your business today, then putting it off again 2 days from now) but compounded over time will take you to the bottom. Lets choose the simple disciplines that seem to make no difference because they sure do!!

Hi
I live in Florida too. I work as a sub in the school system so now that school’s out I have more time to dedicate to my blogging and other writing.

I have avoided creating a blog – mainly because I have little extra time. But I realize now that blogging is a necessity and I need to MAKE TIME for it. Thanks for the encouragement!

I have devoted the first half of this summer to interning with Kelly McCausey on her WAHM Talk Radio blog. I’m getting a chance to perfect blogging techniques now so that I can take my business blog up a notch as next school year approaches!
