Research Shows the Exercise DOES Improve your Productivity and Focus.

Here are some references to check out when you have the time…

Exercise – Brain Rule #1 from John Medina, the author of Brain Rules: 12 Principles for Surviving and Thriving at Work, Home, and School

Scott also turned me on to Dr. John Ratey, author of “Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain” who has done amazing research in the area of how exercise impacts brain function.

I love this quote by Dr. John Ratey

“Exercise is the single most powerful tool you have to optimize brain function.”

If you click here: “Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain”  You can read an excerpt from the book (by clicking on the “look inside” area on Amazon). Dr. Ratey has done extensive research on kids at a high school in Illinois with some dramatic results. Showing the connection between exercise and brain function and productivity. Very important stuff.

That was a nifty video. (Looking at his book now.)

I am so glad it’s Saturday. I woke up with the worst headache and earache. I didn’t even crawl out of bed until noon. Saturday for me means Riley isn’t here, still got work to do. So I think I’m off to do some A.M. Tai Chi and Scott’s Alt leg workout and see if I can get some stuff done.

You guys were awesome yesterday. The energy this group created was just phenomenal.

Great video! So true, exercise does boost brain power.

I write a lot so any time I can’t get the words to come, I jump on my tread mill for about 5 minutes (that’s all it takes) then come back to whatever I’m writing and amazing! The words come to me. Sometimes it’s just a matter of diverting your thoughts for a minute or two but exercise really does help.

How ’bout some applause here for the ol’ lady! 😉

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I was only going to do 200, so was thrilled to do 300. But, I must admit I almost gave up at 300, but then saw that Judi had logged in 310 and thought OH! COME ON!!! That was just evil! So, of course, I’m somewhat compulsive and because I’d been doing them in series of 25 at a time, I had to do 25 more.

Well, THEN, I went to Nicole’s house and my grandson started to do a few more squats as we stood together talking in the kitchen, so, there you go… I HAD to do 25 more! Nothing like being challenged to a squat-off by your Gramma, eh? Yikes!

And that is how I ended up at 350 squats.

    I guess I’m a bit competitive… 😮

But, hey, you are all really incredible to give this challenge a try. I can’t believe how many squats we all did. And, congrats to Joel, Arika, and Kevin.

I put Scott’s cardio squats video on my website hoping that readers my age will see what I did (minus the weights, of course) and give it a try themselves. It’s amazing to me that I actually did 350 squats. If anyone had asked me a month ago if I could ever do that, I’d have to laugh. Just goes to show ya what a body can do… at any age. 😉

First, Congrats to EVERYONE who participated in the Squatty Challenge…we all won!

Second, Patti – I have been applauding you for weeks…you really are an inspiration. Thank you.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the video. It’s so true and the last 2 1/2 week have proven it to me with the FLQ workouts.

Wow, over 3,500 squats, that’s very cool! Let’s make sure to do something similar next week.

    I don’t see how I can pass up Handerpants… that is if it’s a real prize. 🙂
