One little problem is that in the beginning you ignore advice to “outsource” or go to rentacoder or whatever.

It seems WAY too scary somehow

First time I did it I found it very liberating!

I really appreciated the letter and reply format – gives a very real and intimate feel to the blog

I fully agree about picking ONE thing and making it work.

I would add, that a component to picking the one thing is to find something that’s compatible with your personality.

For example, blogging is fine for me but membership sites are a bad match for me. It requires far more effort and in different ways than blogging does.

Is it a good deal? Yes, it certainly can be, but it is not a good deal for me, ultimately I would fail in it because it is not a good match for my personality.

A limited time membership like the Membernaire model would work better, but I’m still better at other models.

Sorry for being long-winded in a comment, there’s enough business models out there that a person should start out with one that is a good match for them rather than the one they think will make the most bang for the buck. Long term they will be more successful.
