Day 13: Quick Home Workouts

Today is Day 13 of the Lose your Computer Butt Challenge. (<– If you’re just joining us, click to check it out. We’ll be repeating the same exercises every week this month, so you are welcome to jump right in.)

Thank you to those who posted their goals on Thursday. That was awesome! If you didn't read them yet, you can do so here:  Team ‘Computer Butt' Goals

While I thought our goals were moving and wonderful, Scott noticed something REALLY important that was missing. oops! Glad he's here watching over us, since I totally missed it.

We are sooo busted! Check it out here…

In this video, Scott refers to NAMS 3. If you don't know what that is, check it out here: NAMS Review. Would love to see you there. 🙂

So, in order to keep the big guy happy, I guess we'd better get our new goals posted below.

Be sure to include both your fitness and financial goals. And, I'll throw in lifestyle goals since you guys know that I don't believe in setting financial goals WITHOUT lifestyle goals. Otherwise you put off living until you make enough money. Then when you do, you find that you can't live the lifestyle of your dreams, because your business wasn't build with those goals in mind. OUCH.

I have a fun challenge planned for Friday, so if everyone could start this Monday with the Monday workout again, that'd be great.

I'd also like to reiterate that this challenge is open to everyone – whether you're doing the Fat Loss Quickie Home Office Workouts or are challenging yourself to walk for 15 minutes/day or anything that makes YOU healthier and stronger.

If you’re reading this and would like to do the Fat Loss Quickie program, join us by clicking on this graphic. It’s only $20 and you’ll have access to your quickie workouts, a personal trainer who you can ask questions here, plus my awesome community of kick-butt marketers sweating with you and cheering you on.

And, to all those who have accepted the challenge and jumped in, post your updates below.

Let’s find 10 minutes every day to get healthier so we can enjoy the LIFESTYLE that we’re working towards.

((hugs)) to all.
Nicole

This is a really difficult question. My financial goals are to grow substantially enough to keep my “employees” and myself all happy, healthy (and healthier), and keep our bills paid.

In relation to our workouts, I think I have talked two of my girls into doing the workouts with me next month. Better all of our lifestyles perhaps.

My lifestyle goals are to get my child to sleep so I can sleep and to have more energy to get everything done. I am in the process of setting more strict working hours for myself and since my professors are pestering me about getting emails from me at 3 AM.

Balance, more done in less time, and more focus, that sounds like a dream right now.

I would also like to be more organized. I have somebody’s Getting More Done When Working From Home printed out on my desk to read tonight 😉 and I have One Year to an Organized Work Life by Regina Leeds as well… I don’t like it so much because it has already told me 3 or 4 times to put down my Blackberry… (That’s a joke by the way. The book is pretty good.) I find that Riley puts things down on my desk and because the mess is started I throw things down and make a bigger mess rather than using my organization system. Another plus, since I am working out in my office, I have to keep it cleaner.

Speaking of sleep, Riley was up until 4 AM so I’m running on about 2 hours of sleep. I got my “Tuesday” workout in but I only got 2 reps on my cardio. I am about to take a short nap and try again for the cardio. I also ordered some workout clothes a few days ago and they came in today so I’m excited. 😀

OOPSY! Forgot about THOSE goals. Yup, we’re busted alright!

How do my financial and lifestyle goals fall in line with my fitness goals… hmmmm…..

Got it! If I’m not strong and fit, if I’m overweight and sluggish, how can I have any credibility writing my Remarkable Wrinklies blog?! I’ll be lying about being one of the Remarkable Wrinklies if I end up sitting on my sizable butt eating bon-bons all day.

So, integrity is an integral part of my financial success, and I won’t have integrity if I’m writing about living strong and fit, and not living strong and fit!

How’s that? I guess that covers lifestyle, too. I want to be fit so I can do the sorts of things that make me feel remarkable.

    There… that feels better. 😉

    ahhh… thanks, Scott. You’re sweet. 🙂

By the way, I missed yesterday’s workout, went on a long bike ride since the weather was so nice, then got too late… blah blah blah…

Anyway, doing the workout PLUS another cardio today just for fun. 😮 Got my new exercise ball and my new weights, so I’m good to go. My cats think the floor ball is out to get them… and my hubby thinks my pink & purple weights are real cute and girlie. Ha! Wait ’til he sees the “guns” I build with ’em!!! So, there!

    Have a good weekend all ya’ll! L8R

Too funny Patti. I got one of those Gold’s Gym balls with “Stay Ball Technology”… Yeah that means the bottom is full of sand so it doesn’t roll. I seriously wonder how much R&D wasted on that feature. This morning when I came in, my 14 year old blind, Persian cat was on top of this ball. No idea how he got up there or down. I should have taken a picture now that I think about it…

I’ll never forget sitting at the table with you last night mom, watching you make a muscle, say “look at these guns”, and blow on them!

      You sooo crack me up!

Oh my goodness! Those squats are killer!

Since I went on a bike ride yesterday and skipped my FLQ exercises I just did the 100 squats and the workout portion, too.

Scott, I did 1/2 the squats with toes torward and half with more of a plie (toes pointed out) as I was taught by an aerobics instructor because it helps your inner thighs? Is that ok or should I stick with standard squats?

Also, those exercises where you pass the ball from hands to feet? Last time I either missed or blocked out the part about not letting the ball, your hands or feet touch the ground. OMG! I thought I was going to die as I was shaking so hard. My husband walked by and said “are you having a convulsion or something?” Isn’t he adorable? Grrr… lol. 😀

I’ll post my updated goals in a bit. Need food now.

Thank you, Scott, for the special treatment of us!!! You are soooo getting a testimonial from me!

Nicole, you raise such a great question about the squats and foot positioning.

      What you did was awesome!

Here’s the thing. The wider your feet the more it’s going to work your butt, hamstrings, and inner thighs…

the closer your feet are together, the more it’s going to work your quads (front of thighs), especially the trouble area above the knees, and your outer thighs.

Varying the position is a great thing to do.

You are all becoming like family to me. It may seem like I’m giving you special treatment, but this is just how I like to treat my customers and followers. You all mean the world to me.

      Thanks for brightening my day.

        ooh. I did good! Yay!

I really felt it differently when I switched it up a little – legs further apart and pointing toes to the side. With my knee issues, it also felt more comfortable to change my positioning a few times during the 100 squats, too.

So glad it was ok. 😀 I’ll definitely do that from now on. I think I can do more than 100 squats, too, by doing it that way.

OMG! I just did the 100 squats with a LITTLE added weight – just 2- 2lb weights. Better than last week with no weight.

I messed up earlier and intended to do the cardio from Friday and did Monday’s instead, so I just went into Friday’s and did the squats too. (BTW – Thanks so much for the downloads, Scott. That sure makes it a lot easier to find the exercises.)

Heh Erica.. I just pushed my floor ball down the hall and my cat went berserk! I think this entertainment value will be just as fun as the exercises! Ha! I’m sure your cat will hop up on top of your ball again… so you’ll have another chance to take a picture. Cats are so weird. 😉

      You’re welcome mom 😉

I have really appreciated all the feedback and am doing my best to implement it all.

You are all helping make this the best fitness program out there for busy work-at-home-moms and dads. I couldn’t have done it without all your input.

      You all ROCK!

BIG ditto to mom. Having the downloads on my PC instead of streaming made it tons better for me, too. I don’t know what’s up with my internet, but I can’t watch hardly any streaming video without it freezing lately. So, having that option of downloading them to my PC really makes it easier for me to stay consistent with the workouts.

        Appreciate it much!

And, mom, stop tormenting Simon with the ball — he’s crabby enough as it is! lol.

    ok, goals.

    Here goes –

    At NAMS 3, I will …

    1. Be wearing my favorite jeans. (I’ll fit in them again.)

    2. Bring a few copies of my new book that I haven’t started yet. (details coming soon)

    3. Have replaced the monthly income that I will be losing at the end of this year when I end one branch of my business. (details coming soon)

    4. Be handling my stress better through exercise so that I’m only drinking wine on the weekends and for special events like NAMS to lessen my caloric intake and to be a healthier example to my kiddos. 🙂

    5. Have both hubby & my 12 year old son doing Fat Loss Quickie Workouts with me at least 3 times/week.

    6. Have all of you and more of the people attending NAMS 3 to be healthier by January 31st by continuing to round them up, get them doing Fat Loss Quickie workouts, and supporting them through the holidays with a few fun challenges. (details coming soon)

Am I thinking big enough, yet, Scott? 🙂

Ok, I’ve been kinda dancing around this goal but I’m ready to put it out there. This first goal scares me to make because I’m afraid I might not make it but here it is:

    1. My business goal is to attend NAMS3 – There are way too many amazing people going that I really don’t want to miss it. In my new healthy body I will have lots more confidence and will make connections that I’m sure will allow long term relationships to develop.

    Other goals:
    2. Have 50% of my income be passive (affiliate marketing & info products) by April 1st, 2010 and be completely non-reliant on service-based income by December 31st, 2010 (though I will do some services and coaching BY CHOICE not necessity).

    3. Work Mon-Thurs while my son is in school and take every Friday to volunteer at school 1/2 day and the other 1/2 take ‘me’ time.

    4. Add 700 new ‘fans’ to my email list by December 31st, 2009.

mmm, think I got a little too ambitious with my email list. I’ll say I want to add 200 by December 31st, I think that’s more realistic!

Ok – wow you two went there didn’t you? 😉 Ok I have my goals but right now I’m getting kids ready for school, wiping runny noses and wishing I could stop for just one minute and grab that second cup of coffee….

I’ll be back with my goals in just a few hours – AFTER I do today’s first workout! 😉
